Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 9, 1998 at Antioch Baptist Church for Mr. Kyle Parkman, age 82, who died at Wesley Medical Center in Hattiesburg on June 7. Rev. John Barnes, III, Rev. Joe Ratcliff and Rev. John Jones officiated. Interment followed in the Antioch Baptist Church cemetery with Saulters-Moore in charge.
Active pallbearers were Corey Parkman, Casey Parkman, Shane Henderson, Brandon Henderson, Tommy Henderson, and Ronnie Parkman. Honorary pallbearers are Bill Lindsey, Vernon Terrell, John Anderson, Larue Hamilton, Curtis McNeil, Homer Holloway, Johnnie Dewitt and Jerry Dampier.
Mr. Parkman was a native of Prentiss, the son of Morgan Stuart Parkman and Dorothy Farthing Parkman. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church where he served as Sunday School teacher and former Sunday School Superintendent. He was a crop/timber farmer and had been a heavy equipment operator in construction work for over forty years. He was a World War II Navy veteran. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Parkman of Prentiss; one daughter, Patsy Henderson of New Hebron; two sons, Jim Parkman of Grenada, and Mike Parkman of Brookhaven; four grandchildren, Duane Henderson, Corey Parkman, Brandon Henderson, and Casey Parkman; one brother, Lynn Parkman of Birmingham, Alabama; and one sister, Nell Jackson of Mobile, Alabama.
