Ms. Champ was born July 4, 1939, in Woodville, the daughter of Leonard "Red" Thomas Sr. and Charlesteen Turner Thomas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Leonard Thomas Jr.; and one sister, Andre Thomas.
Survivors include six sons, Melvin Champ, Anthony Thomas and wife, Jada, and Gerald Thomas and wife, Cellesene, all of Jackson, Ronald Thomas and wife, Felicia, of Richardson, Texas, and Michael Champ and Terry Champ Sr., both of Natchez; three daughters, Denise Champ, Bernadine Cameron and husband, Dwight, and Catina Kaho and husband, Shawn, all of Natchez; one brother, Roosevelt "Humbo" Thomas and wife, Victoria, of San Francisco; one sister, Mable Lee Vaughn of Woodville; and a number of other relatives and friends.
